For over 30 years, Yadu Health Aboriginal Corporation (YHAC) provides an affordable and accessible Aboriginal Community Controlled Health service with a range of culturally safe and high-quality services. YHAC strives to improve the wellness and health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our communities within Ceduna and the surrounding areas .YHAC also operate a fully accredited 24-hour residential aged care facility.

Opportunities: Below are various job roles/Job opportunities, which candidates will work collaboratively throughout Yadu Health Aboriginal Corporation (YHAC) within the stated teams.

We are seeking an interested, experienced and reliable people to join our services.

Aged Care Connector 

The Opportunity: An exciting opportunity for a Trusted Indigenous Facilitator - Aged Care Connector (ACC) to join our YHAC Elder Care Team has become available! As an ACC you will work within the Yadu Health Elder Care Team to link and support Aboriginal Elders and families to improve access to and increase awareness of Aged Care supports and services. You will provide practical, hands-on support to Elders and their families to help them to navigate the Aged Care process, so they are able to access support services. You will be responsible for increasing the community’s understanding of Aged Care Services, both in the home and residential facility.

Working Arrangements:

  • Full Time Permanent Position

  • 6-month Probationary Period

  • Day Shifts Monday - Friday

  • $37.47 - $39.94 Per Hour​

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Qualifications in Community Services or Primary Health highly desirable

  • Experience networking with health-related agencies

  • Experience with Aged Care/Elderly

  • Strong relationships with the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community

  • Current National Police Check, DHS WWCC, and DHS Aged Care Screening

  • Current First Aid Certificate or ability to obtain

  • Current valid Driver Licence (minimum of Class “C” or equivalent)

  • COVID-19 and Flu Vaccinations not mandatory, but highly encouraged.

  • Intermediate Computer literacy including MS Office

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing tasks and priorities

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Program Implementation and working with Yadu leadership to support the integration of the Elder Care Support Program into Yadu’s Model of Care

  • Proactively engage with, and educate the Ceduna community (and surrounding homelands and communities) to promote the Elder Care Support Program and Aged Care Services more broadly

  • Attend community events, meetings or other social gatherings where there are opportunities to speak to Elders about their aged care entitlements

  • Support clients to identify goals and needs to ensure they get the appropriate level of care and services, which can include referrals to other specialised services and support

  • Develop and maintain sound relationships with the Community, in particular Elders

  • Use appropriate reporting mechanisms to document community engagements, assessments, referrals, meetings and services provided

  • Undertake evaluation of services that ensure participants voice is captured in the design and delivery of the program

  • Demonstrate safe working practices. Ensuring compliance with relevant WH&S legislation

  • Participate in appropriate education to develop and maintain professional expertise, skills and knowledge

Practice Manager         

The Opportunity: are seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and experienced healthcare professional to oversee the dayto-day operations of our medical clinic. The Practice Manager will be responsible for managing staff, optimising resources, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and satisfaction. This role requires a proactive individual with exceptional communication and organisational abilities, as well as a deep understanding of healthcare administration.

  • ​Full Time Permanent Position

  • 6-month Probationary Period

  • Day Shifts Monday-Friday

  • Salary Position - $115,000 - $125,000 p.a. (negotiable based on experience)

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare-related field (master’s degree preferred).

  • Qualifications in Health Administration, Business Management, or a related field (highly desired).

  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, ideally as a clinic manager or similar position.

  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare administration, regulations, and best practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and optimise clinic operations.

  • Proficiency in utilising electronic health records (EHR) and other healthcare management software.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing tasks and priorities.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead and manage the Clinic/Practice to ensure YHACs vision, mission, and values are met

  • Review current operational policies, procedures, and protocols and implement changes/improvements, in conjunction with relevant staff and senior management, to ensure efficient clinic functioning.

  • Manage clinic resources, including staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and inventory control to efficiently support the Doctor and other medical professionals.

  • Monitor and assess clinic performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate strategies to ensure an appropriate model of care is being followed.

  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, open communication, and professional growth.

  • Manage staff performance and provide regular analysis of staff skill levels to determine ongoing suitability for their roles, ensuring staff are best placed within the clinic appropriately to achieve required clinical outcomes.

  • Ensure staff are building and maintaining strong relationships with patients, addressing their concerns and feedback in a timely and satisfactory manner.

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and external stakeholders to enhance patient care and service delivery.

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, quality standards, and safety protocols.

Medical Receptionist 

The Opportunity: We are seeking a friendly, organised, and proactive Medical Receptionist to join our team. This role involves being the first point of contact for our patients, managing appointments, processing patient information, and supporting clinic operations.   • Support the clinical team in coordinating patient care.

  • Assist in the implementation of practice policies, procedures, and quality improvement activities.

Mental Health Nurse 

The Opportunity: An exciting opportunity for a specialised Mental Health Nurse has become available to join our YHAC Clinic/Programs team! We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have experience in mental health nursing and a deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by the Aboriginal community. You will play a crucial role in delivering culturally appropriate mental health care, support, and advocacy

Working Arrangements:

  • ​Full Time Permanent Position

  • 6-month Probationary Period

  • Day Shifts Monday-Friday

  • Hourly rate between $42 - $54 

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.

  • Postgraduate qualifications in mental health nursing or equivalent experience.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities or a strong commitment to learning about and respecting Aboriginal culture.

  • Previous Care Planning/ Health Assessment experience.

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

  • Sound computer skills for electronic medical record documentation.

  • Current Driver's License and willingness to travel within the community.

  • Current National Police Check, Working With Children Check, and DHS Aged Care Screening.

  • Current First Aid and Mental Health First Aid Certification.

  • Evidence of Covid-19 1st, 2nd & Booster Vaccinations encouraged but not a requirement

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide comprehensive mental health assessments and interventions.

  • Develop and implement individualised care plans in conjunction with an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

  • Offer therapeutic support and counselling to individuals and families.

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, community organisations, and family members to ensure holistic, culturally appropriate care.

  • Promote mental health awareness and education within the community.

  • Support patients in navigating the healthcare system and accessing necessary services.

  • Participate in community outreach programs and events.

  • Provide support and leadership to clinic and program staff.

  • Administering medications and injections as prescribed by physicians, as well as completing Venipuncture.

  • Ensuring compliance with clinic policies, procedures, and infection control protocols.

Assets Officer

Aged Care Support Worker 

The Opportunity: We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Aged Care Support Workers to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join a well-operated Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service in the beautiful beachside rural location of Ceduna.

 

There are multiple Casual positions available for those who have a passion for aged care and who would care for our residents as though they were their own loved ones. The Aged Care Support Workers are critical in providing residents with care and support to ensure that they have a safe, clean, comfortable, and secure living environment
